I have been a practicing family therapist for twenty-five years. Many of the children I see for therapy are not allowed, by the court, to visit with one of their parents without supervision.

Throughout the years, finding a competent supervisor has been very difficult. In the last year, I have referred a number of my clients to Marilyn Daniels. The feedback that I have received has been very positive. I have been told that Marilyn is very kind to the children, very appropriate with the parents and that she writes a thorough report. I plan to continue to refer to Marilyn and Little Tree Family Services in the future.

Lynn Tyson, M.Ed. LMFT

I've known Marilyn for about four years having assisted her on several occasions and worked with her on several cases. She exhibits wisdom and maturity in her approach to all of the situations that come up in this line of work as well as compassion and caring for the parties involved. Marilyn has even done "pro bono" work on a case that lasted over a year. I'm sure this was because she genuinely believes in what she is doing. I would not hesitate to refer Marilyn to any of my clients who were in need of her services.

Re: Marilyn Daniel

To Whom It May Concern:

My wife, Rochelle, and I have known Marilyn Daniel by virtue of the fact that the Court system of Los Angeles County and our granddaughters' Court appointed therapist asked our daughter and us to entrust our two little girls to Ms. Walls protection and cloak of safety. Although this only took place less than one year ago, the severity and intensity of the situation has brought us quite close to Ms. Walls and has allowed us to become deeply aware of her love and concern for all people, especially children.

Our granddaughters are the product of an abusive father who is unfortunately a batterer and who was found to be in need of supervision whenever he was permitted to be in the presence of his children. After having endured multiple agonizing attempts to create a situation whereby the children would feel safe enough to visit with their father, we were blessed with Marilyn. To them she has become almost a member of the family. They trust her and feel real warmth for her as well as from her. They know that, when they were with Marilyn, they felt no fear of their father, which in turn allowed them to grow and emerge from the frightened hiding place in their terrified minds that they used to go before she became their personal "babysitter."

To me, Marilyn represents the quintessential professional. In the course of performing her job as the children's monitor, Ms. Daniel found it necessary to report the father of her clients to the California Department of Children's Family Services for certain inappropriate behavior during his last monitored visitation. This she did, despite the knowledge that he would thereafter object to her as the children's monitor and that it was likely that she would never have the opportunity to monitor the children professionally ever again. Nevertheless, true to her real nature and character, Marilyn has continued to maintain her telephone relationship with the children. She has not failed to call them and keep in touch with them these past five months, since the time that she was discharged by the children's father.

She has also called me once just to inquire about the progress of the children's custody battle and to offer her good wishes for us all. When I asked her why she continued to keep such close contact with the children, her simple explanation was that she felt that they had shown affection for her and that she felt it would be a pity for these two, sweet little girls to have to endure more loss or feelings of separation at this time.

How long must I know someone to realize that this person has such deep and rich qualities of nature and character? Of course, being a man, it is impossible for me to truly comprehend such lovely female instincts, but I trust my wife's judgment of people even more than I do my own and she is of the opinion that God must have been watching very closely over our little family to have sent our girls their Marilyn at the time and place that she arrived.

Respectfully,
Steve Lotto
